The Project

Packaging One’s warehouse facility in Middlewich required a Lighting, Alarm and Three Phase Power Installation. It involved designing and installing systems across the entire operation: high bay LED lighting for the main warehouse floor, three phase power supplies for industrial machinery, mezzanine floor power and lighting, fire alarm extensions and emergency systems, and full welfare facilities for staff.

For a packaging business handling high-volume operations, every electrical system needs to be reliable, efficient, and built to last. We handled the full scope of the work, from design through to commissioning and handover.

What We Installed

The installation covered multiple areas of the facility, each with its own specific requirements.

Warehouse floor lighting consisted of high bay LED arrays fitted with motion sensors, ensuring efficient energy use while maintaining excellent illumination across the entire picking and packing area. The LED panels provide consistent light coverage and significantly reduce energy costs compared to traditional high bay systems.

Industrial machinery required dedicated three phase power supplies, installed with proper isolation and fault protection to keep equipment running safely and reliably. Power distribution was carefully planned to avoid bottlenecks and ensure redundancy where critical equipment is in use.

The mezzanine floor received dedicated power and lighting circuits, with LED panel systems providing even illumination across the upper level. Drop ceiling installation in office areas created separate zones with proper lighting and climate control.

Fire safety systems included a full fire alarm installation with multiple call points positioned at key exits and throughout the facility, properly labelled and accessible to all staff. Emergency lighting was installed in corridors, stairwells, and escape routes to ensure safe evacuation in any emergency.

Lighting Design and Efficiency

LED lighting was specified throughout the facility, not just for the cost savings but for the quality of illumination. High bay LEDs with motion sensors mean the warehouse only uses power when occupied, reducing energy consumption. Office areas received LED panel systems that distribute light evenly, reducing glare and eye strain for staff working in those spaces.

The main warehouse floor benefits from consistent illumination across every aisle and picking station, improving productivity and reducing picking errors. Staff canteen areas received dedicated lighting circuits, separate from the warehouse operations, allowing different operating schedules.

Fire Safety and Emergency Systems

A fire alarm extension was installed to BS 5839-1 standards, with multiple call points positioned at exits and throughout the facility. The system includes detection devices in key areas, with clear signage and easily accessible manual call points for staff evacuation.

Emergency lighting was installed in escape routes, corridors, and stairwells, ensuring that in the event of a power loss, staff can safely exit the building. Exit signs are illuminated and battery-backed, and all emergency circuits were tested and commissioned on site.

Mezzanine and Office Installation

The mezzanine floor received dedicated power circuits for office equipment and break areas, with LED panels providing bright, even lighting. Drop ceiling installation in office spaces created separate environments from the warehouse floor, with proper thermal and acoustic insulation.

Wall-mounted sockets and switches were installed to modern standards with proper labelling, and all circuits were fitted with appropriate protection and isolation switches for maintenance and safety.

The Result

Packaging One now has a fully compliant, energy-efficient electrical installation designed to support high-volume packaging operations. The warehouse is properly lit for productivity, machinery has reliable three-phase power, staff areas are comfortable and well-lit, and the entire facility is protected by modern fire safety and emergency lighting systems.

Every circuit is properly documented, labelled, and tested. The systems are designed for reliability and easy maintenance, and the building is ready for safe, efficient operation from day one.
