Our Electrical Compliance & Testing Services
Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)
An EICR is a formal assessment of the safety and condition of a property's electrical installation. It identifies any damage, deterioration or non-compliance with current BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations and grades issues by severity. An EICR is a legal requirement for all private landlords in England and Wales under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector Regulations 2020 — and strongly recommended for any homeowner or business that hasn't had their installation tested in the last ten years. We provide fully certified EICR reports with clear, jargon-free findings. If remedial work is required, our domestic or commercial electrical team can carry it out straight away.
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
PAT testing checks the safety of portable electrical appliances in the workplace. While there is no legal requirement specifying how often PAT testing must be carried out, employers have a duty of care under the Health and Safety at Work Act to ensure appliances are safe. Portcullis carry out PAT testing for businesses, landlords and organisations across Cheshire — fast, thorough and fully documented with same day certificates available.
Fire Alarm Certification & Maintenance
Regular fire alarm testing and certification is a legal requirement for most commercial premises and strongly recommended for all properties. Portcullis test, certify and maintain fire alarm systems for domestic and commercial properties across Cheshire, fully compliant with BS 5839 standards. We provide clear documentation on completion and can set up a planned maintenance schedule to keep your system certified year-round.
Emergency Lighting Testing
Emergency lighting must be tested regularly to ensure it will function correctly in the event of a power failure. Portcullis carry out emergency lighting inspections and testing for commercial and industrial premises across Cheshire, providing full certification and documentation on completion.
Safety & Compliance Documentation
All Portcullis compliance work comes with the appropriate documentation — EICR reports, PAT testing records, fire alarm service certificates and installation certificates. Everything you need to demonstrate compliance to insurers, local authorities, tenants or prospective buyers. If you've had electrical work carried out by another contractor and need it properly certified, contact us and we'll advise on what's required.
