The Project
This solar PV and battery storage installation was carried out at a coastal property in Anglesey, North Wales – just six weeks after the initial site survey. The homeowner wanted to reduce their reliance on the grid, lower their energy bills, and store surplus generation for use in the evening and overnight. The result is a complete renewable energy system that works around the property’s existing roof layout without compromising its appearance.
The installation spans two slate roof elevations, with 16 panels split across both pitches to maximise generation output throughout the day. A slimline Anker Solix battery storage unit was installed discreetly at the rear of the property, paired with all associated electrical works including a new consumer unit, DC isolator, and surge protection device.

Working on a Slate Roof
Slate roofs require a different approach to standard tile installations. Each bracket has to be fitted individually between the slates using a purpose-made fitting system that maintains the weathertight integrity of the roof without the need for mortar or sealant. It takes longer than a tile installation, but the result is cleaner and more durable – and there is no risk of cracking or lifting the existing slate.
Both elevations were surveyed and planned before work started to ensure the rail layout, panel spacing, and cable routing were all mapped out in advance. This allowed the full installation to be completed efficiently without any issues on the day.
The Battery Storage System
Alongside the solar array, an Anker Solix battery storage unit was installed at the rear of the property. The Anker Solix is a slimline, wall-mounted unit with a clear display showing real-time solar generation, battery charge level, and home consumption – giving the homeowner full visibility of how the system is performing at any point.
The battery stores surplus solar generation that would otherwise be exported to the grid, making it available for use in the evening when the panels are no longer generating. For a coastal property with high energy usage, this kind of storage makes a significant difference to self-consumption levels and overall savings.

The Finished Installation
The completed system sits cleanly on both roof pitches, with the black-frame panels sitting low to the roofline and minimal visible cabling. The Anker Solix battery is positioned discreetly at the rear of the property where it does not affect the front elevation or streetscape. The overall result is a clean, efficient renewable energy system that complements the property rather than dominating it.

“Just six weeks after the initial site survey, this project has been successfully completed and handed over to another happy customer. Another quality installation completed and another customer now benefiting from solar and battery storage.”

Thinking About Solar and Battery Storage in North Wales or Cheshire?
This Anglesey installation shows what is achievable on a property with multiple roof elevations and a slate roof – a combination that puts some installers off but is well within our capabilities. If your property has reasonable south, south-east or south-west orientation across one or more roof sections, solar is almost certainly worth investigating.
Our Solar Panels and Battery Storage page covers everything we offer, and we are happy to carry out a free, no-obligation survey and quote for any property across Cheshire, North Wales and the surrounding area.
